How to use the WATERWAY parasail?
Before
you start
Put
the parasail canopy on the ground with the front part of the leading edge
marked with a black dot upward. The cords should be checked for any troubles
and knots. Fix the harness to the stripes. There are two loops on the lines.
One for fixing the harness, the second one is used for tow line which is
provided with an extension line. Fix the harness by a buckle to the loop and
make sure that the tow extension line leads towards the tow equipment (winch
or a boat).
Getting
ready to start
Check
if the harness buckles are properly buttoned up. If the buckles are properly
buttoned, the harness lines cannot be released even if loaded. Otherwise the
buckles might get loose but they will not be released. Go on and check the
connection between the tow line and lines and between the harness and the
lines. If you launch from a beach or a pier you should always start with a
headwind.
The
launch
When
towing the canopy with a boat, you should first tighten the tow line. The
canopy has got to be taken in the middle part and lifted as high as possible.
This will shorten the launch to its minimum. Now it is time for the boat to
start moving slowly. The launch depends on the wind speed and the velocity of
the boat. The start has to be as fluent as possible to avoid dynamic
turbulence. This is especially important at strong wind conditions.
The
flight, flight corrections
After
the launch when the canopy climbs calmly and vertically up without any
tendencies to incline to the left or right you could go on towing. The heights
is controlled by the speed of the boat. The tow line should keep the angle of
45 degrees to the lake surface, the power necessary for the take off is about
1000-1500 N. The direction of the flight could be controlled by:
a)
braking
the canopy
a) A boat; you should change the direction of the boat
to the side that is opposite to the direction of the canopy flight.
b) The pilot brakes one side of the canopy (the
part that is not fixed to tow loop), in fact the same side he intends to
change direction to. If the canopy inclines left, you should brake the right
part (10 to 15 cm). The inclining will be eliminated.
The
wind direction is an important feature for the canopy stability. If you have
wind coming from the right side, the canopy goes to the right and vice versa.
Landing
When
getting ready to land you should carefully decide, if you do not want to land
into water, where to land:
a)
The
place should be big enough without any electric wires, buildings, trees and
bushes, cars and-or any other obstructions.
b)
always
check the wind (velocity and the direction). Always land on the on-wind beach.
It is always easier to land with a headwind or when the canopy is drifted
towards the beach.
c)
the
sink rate should be controlled by a boat velocity. The slower you drive, the
bigger sink rate.
d)
When
landing to the water you should stop the boat before the passenger falls into
the water. This is a security measurement to avoid any injuries.
e)
Landing
to the beach is the same. The maximum sink rate is 5-6,5 m/s.
Maintenance
and storage
Any
damages on the canopy should be fixed by a producer or a specially trained
person. With a mass damage always contact the manufacturer.
The
service life of the parasail is influenced by UV radiation and the storage and
operation conditions as well as the operating hours.
When
storing the canopy please make sure the parasail is not wet to avoid mould. If
you use the parasail at sea you should always wash it in the fresh water and
dry it. Do not dry it on the sunshine. Before storing always check all the
components for mechanical damage.
If
it is dirty with oils or chemicals it could influence the canopy. The canopy
filth with oil or chemicals should be checked by a manufacturer.
The
canopy has to be cleaned only with a water without any detergents.
The
life service
The
whole canopy consists of several components and the life service of the whole
set is limited by life service of the canopy material.
The
canopy is made of technical fabrics. The producer of the fabrics guarantees
the stable quality for five years. The life service could be of course changed
by operating hours and hours of direct sunshine to the fabrics. Therefore it
is highly recommended to expose the canopy to the sunshine only for a period
necessary for operating the parasail. If you comply with all the limits
mentioned above, the life service of the canopy is at least 300 operating
hours.
The
warranty for lines and stripes is not limited. It is fully guaranteed for the
whole life service of the canopy.
