Hi,
Diego!
Thanks for your congratulations!!!
TOP-80 did it's best!
There were very many things at the UK
Championship. For example, Task 4 (Navigation precision & speed) was a real
undertaking for me. When starting I lost my compass. I had already been in the
air when it suddenly flown off. I started to kick it with my feet like in
football trying to catch it, but it won and fell down in the grass.
During my struggle with compass my stop-watch stopped by its own. So I had
nothing to do but fly my own route nearly in a blind manner relying only on my
senses and a map, which and used very hard until it became a form of a globe.
Besides when I tried to mark a PPM I
found out that my pencil had broken. So I had been nibbling it for 20 minutes
until a piece of a slate pencil appeared!
At long last I flown back 10 minutes
later. I was certainly 50% penalized and thus get 400 scores although I gained
800 scores.
The description of the Task 1 Richard
Meredith-Hardy didn't place at his site, though there were some negative things.
I flown 79 km. for 2,5 h. picking up the PPMs, whereas the winner of the Task
and finally of the whole Championship the Belgian Johan Bossuyt flown 136 km.
for only 1 h. You know that this simply cannot be!
In the Task "Fast-Slow"
slow distance I went very well, but when I started the fast one I simply torn
the accelerator! I should say that your accelerator construction is not very
good, because the accelerator lines constantly rub about metallic tube...
Well, in other words there were very
many things to tell about. The whole story about my adventures at the UK
National Championship I'll write a bit later.
